Legal Restrictions & Penalties

  • Contributors and candidate committees must not exceed the limits set by Oklahoma Ethics Commission rules. Violating these rules can trigger misdemeanor or felony penalties, depending on the excess amount Justia Law.
  • It’s illegal to funnel contributions through intermediaries (conduits) to bypass these limits Justia Law.
  • Lobbyists or their principals cannot give or solicit contributions to/from legislative candidates during a legislative session and for 5 days following adjournment, nor may candidates solicit or accept such contributions in that period Justia Law.
